I have always been interested in art and crafts, but had little opportunity to concentrate on them whilst busy working and travelling as an International Conference Organiser. In retirement I have had the chance to explore various avenues and discovered a love of oil painting.
I am particularly drawn to the natural world of plants, animals and birds. Their variety of shapes and colours is endlessly fascinating. My style tends towards bright colours and a somewhat stylised form of realism. I also enjoy the challenge of painting portraits, often with a partner animal intended as an equal partnership.
In addition to painting, I have been able to study and gained a first class BA in Graphic Design and Illustration as a mature student, which resulted in one of my projects being bought for the Artists’ Books Tate Library Collection.
Over the last few years I have shown work at several local exhibitions. I’ve found new homes for a good number of my pieces and undertaken some commissions. Which frees up some space to create more!
